On change being good

I have been talking for *years* about switching teams in my vball league.

Today I did it. A few of us are planning for the Fall season -- and it looks like I'm going to be a founding member of Acme Roofing.

None of you should care, but this is a *big* change in my life. I feel like I just got traded to the San Diego Chargers from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cool! Great news. Make sure you have photos taken when your new team gets to hoist the trophy at the end of the year. (you get a trophy right? I thought everyone got them these days...)
Acme Roofing...a random name (why not `fragile white porcelain mice'?), or part of an actual company team?

Well, it turns out that it is a bad volleyball pun. When you block someone, you "roof" them. So, Acme Roofing -- we roof more people than any other team out there.

However, it turns out that we've had about fifteen names suggested, and no more than 2 votes for any one name. I put forward Diffraction Spikes, but got shot down.

One of my other suggestions "Given to Fly" might make the cut, but who knows what we will wind up calling ourselves. If you have any good ideas, let me know.

I think we might be pretty good, but who knows. All I know is that to quote my favorite sports cliche, I'm ready to "go in a new direction."
